It’s time to walk the talk, hard: —no insider trading, no more money-driven elections, more access and participation in MEANINGFUL government by and for all of us.
It’s literally *our* financial investment in this place we all call home. Are we going to be neighborly and give a sh** about having each others’ backs the way we rally in an emergency? Shouldn’t we *expect* growth from the ROI from *our* tax dollars invested over our whole working lives?! Why would we allow amateurs that take a chainsaw to things we collectively built, and they singularly wish to destroy, for their benefit alone - while selling us a pile of lies to replace it all - more debt to cover their greed?
Democrats: MAKE IT PLAIN: GOVERNMENT IS *NOT* A BUSINESS AND SHOULDN’T BE RUN BY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LEVERAGE IT LIKE ONE. Government belongs to 100% of us, not 1% of us.
Or, are we going to stop tending to maintenance and curb appeal to spite our neighbors while we destroy our own assets in the process. I mean, one distressed home brings down the value of the whole block. In our weird American greed, we are tripping over gazillions of dollars to save 12-cents instead of saving a kid (school lunch/healthcare/housing/etc) who turns into an adult who contributes for another lifetime.
Our democratic reps need to lead by example. Take big swings. Take some risks on our behalf and on behalf of everyone in the USA. Focus on the core. Keep tending to the yard, but don’t get so buried in the weeds.
And for goodness sake, don’t volunteer felons or misogynists or greedy aholes to represent the Dem side of the ticket - that trash isn’t on brand over here. WE ARE THE 100%!!!🩵💙🩵💙🩵
DEMs need to have a plan, strategy to make sure future elections are not RIGGED! MAGAts are not afraid of losing elections because they have Muskrat! That’s why they have abdicated their responsibilities to TRUMP!
Beautifully put, if only we could rely they are up to the task, Dems like the republicans have lived in larceny and know nothing of true function or effective government. Then add the military unbalanceable budget and a purchased Supreme Court that’s where we are . I caution placing our interest back into a system that allowed this to happen due to exhaustion. It’s torn up now, so now is when we implement a stabilizing mechanism and look at the needs of the people. No more money in politics! Is my first suggestion. Use grey beards to direct only, no power just a fire extinguisher! There’s my two cents👍
I agree with some of what you are saying, some I do not. Kamala had a clear vision for the middle class and pretty much all Americans but then you add in the “don’t vote for the facsist” and here we are? It had to be said and still does, sadly not enough people listened, again, here we are. What you didn’t offer was the platform that would get the dems there, only what everyone else is saying that it needs to change; so, what is the platform? Racism, hate, bigotry, corruption??
Thank you for your response. For the sake of clarity, I thought given the horrible hand she was dealt. Kamala Harris did an outstanding job. My problem was definitely not the candidate although she was never my natural choice. The problem was the campaign.
You rightly pointed out she laid out a vision for the middle class. What she never did, and I have studied EVERY speech because I produced a number of political Ads to support the campaign, was a vision for the ‘working class’ and that my friend was the fatal flaw.
I am beyond passionate about ending tyranny in the US because America deserves better, but NOBODY and I mean NOBODY will ever convince me that Democrats should be trading stocks while being a legislator.
Nobody will convince me that you replace dark money with more palatable dark money. As Shakespeare wrote “There is something rotten in the state of Denmark”
Democrats are the only option on the table, that should not be leverage, it should be a commitment to put people first. Not just put people first a little bit ahead of a tyrant.
There is a structural problem. As for the platform, you should read more of my work before commenting on that aspect of my post. I do believe a path has to be found and I have 2 upcoming posts that might provide some insight into my thinking.
I pity the poor nail that you hit so squarely on its head again and again in your posts, Martin. Seen from far away rebuilding a truly democratic DP looks like a really herculean task, and I am much afraid the time left before democracy in the US wheezes out its last bit of air might not be enough to accomplish it. Too many party VIPs dug too deeply in their seats and clinging to their position, too much glue on their behinds to be undone by simple crowbars. Where are all the young progressives, eager to unseat their dons? I know there are a couple, but there'd need to be scores of them, all burning for the society of 100%, and not only aggressively demanding that «their» party be given a second life but collectively taking over every function and position from the roots to the top. People with charisma and honesty and decency like …no, I won't start with names, that is not for me as a foreigner living abroad.
I jest not Andreas when I say his victory brought me to tears and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
I’ve been at this every day for almost six years now and I experience few wins in what sometimes seems a fruitless task of trying to offer a genuine heartfelt attempt to share a view that is solely focussed on good intent.
I’m tired and at times feel cut adrift in an ocean of political and social ignorance. However my friend I will not be silenced, because once I give in I will be a lesser man.
Unidentified, warrantless and armed men are kidnapping people off our streets and harassing, sometimes violently, citizens using their protected rights. The administration is largely ignoring our judiciary, and why not when they can push their cases to SCOTUS which at this point is becoming a joke. Women are being prosecuted for miscarriages. What are our liberal legislators doing? NOTHING.
I'm not well versed enough in foreign policy to speak about what's happening in the Middle East, but from here it looks like a total shit show courtesy of authoritarianesque leaders and years of bad policy decisions. The people are rising up, but how long will that movement last when we are getting little to no tangible support? The United States is falling apart while the Democrat leadership is sending strongly worded letters and supporting candidates that would never have made it to the primary stage just 10 years ago. Martin is correct, we need to face some hard truths and be ready to make hard choices. Otherwise the fight is already over. It can't be over.
Voters came out in record numbers. The number one concern to majority of people is economy and affordability. The leading vote getter is addressing it so I’m willing to support him at this time
12 million people marched on June 14 and clearly and emphatically stated, " NO KINGS!" That not just means "little donnie", it means "No Kings, period. NO to all billionaires for any or no party, and most would gladly adopt a new party for progressive democrats and another for reasonable democratic conservatives not beholden to vcorporations pretending to be individuals.
I feel safe in saying that at least the No Kings Marchers and Bernie attenders are thoroughly fed up with both parties that have dismally failed the American population who put them in office.
The accuracy.

Great article! I agree with every word. I’m just wondering why you’re still on X.
I did not ever support Cuomo. EVER. I know there are plenty of Dems who can’t see but please don’t generalize.

Exactly ! Time for a change not just the slogan . The Dems need to message why we are the real opposition.
I agree. I have faith that more candidates with vision will start to appear. It’s taking longer than what’s comfortable, though.

A move away from fascist authoritarianism. That’s what we witnessed! The people have spoken!!
Totally agree. Please keep pushing the narrative. The Dems are a mess and we need to pull together for serious change. Meidas had a great article too.
Voters came out in record numbers. The number one concern to majority of people is economy and affordability. The leading vote getter is addressing it so I’m willing to support him at this time
Yes, the Democrats may need to change, but don’t let that discount that there was most likely serious election manipulation by Elon & co.
Please out who is felons, misogynists or greedy holes in the Democratic Party! I know a few that I’ve

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to throw off the government!
