Alisa Valdez (Rodriguez) wrote a piece about people like Ellison and about the Dark Triad. It’s on Facebook. I tried to find a way to copy the link, but was unable to do so. One of the things that she says in her piece is that these people with these Dark Triad traits, are so wealthy and well connected now that they are open about the things that they are doing, and that they like that because it traumatizes us. That makes people much easier to control because they are in fear, which shuts off that prefrontal cortex in our brains. Remember that these are people, like Ellison, who do not have a conscience, they have no feelings of remorse, they don’t care if people are harmed by what they do. Their focus is on acquiring as much power as possible, and maintaining it as long as possible. Sadly, American culture with its emphasis on individualism, competition, and winning over everyone else is one of the reasons why we have the highest number of people in power with those horrible traits.
I most definitely would love to see a shift into a matriarchal culture, which would mean a definite focus on cooperation, collaboration, and compassion. That is going to take time and a huge paradigm shift. And it has to be worked toward. It’s not just something that’s going to spring up out of the ether. Valdez talks about this.
Define best behavior, giving a damn about our neighbors, working hard, trying to pay our bills, holding cheats, liars, evil people accountable for their deeds. You can catch me any day doing this.
We are in uncharted territory…. Moving at a tremendous speed without guardrails and without any solid evidence that we can CONTROL AI … which might inflict great harm upon humanity. Great advances can be made with AI if used properly… but the “what ifs “are haunting . No easy answers.
